The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued a notice on its official website on June 11th:Starting from June 12th, we will promote the successful pilot program and implement new security measures in the "Voluntary Modification Form" and "Change of Address or Representative Form" of the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS).

Starting from June 12th, we will promote the successful pilot program and implement new security measures in the "Voluntary Modification Form" and "Change of Address or Representative Form" of the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS).

Operating mechanism

The system will determine whether you can submit these forms without additional authorization based on the information in your USPTO.gov account. If you require additional authorization when submitting, the system will prompt you in the TEAS form to send permission requests to any of the recorded contact email addresses. The recipient will approve or reject your request within 48 hours.

Only customers who require additional authorization will receive a prompt. If you do not require additional authorization, you will not see this prompt.

How to prepare

Lawyers and support personnel: Sponsorship tools should be used to ensure that their sponsorship relationships and related information are up-to-date, while updating all communication email addresses and cc email addresses.

Applicants and registrants without legal representation should ensure that the email addresses of the rights holders and any copied email addresses in their applications or registrations are up-to-date.

All customers should ensure that their primary email address in their USPTO.gov account is up-to-date and accessible.

The trademark that needs to be replaced is currently in the status of having a lawyer, and requires the cooperation of the previous agent lawyer or the second contact email of the Trademark Office to receive the authorization application email from the new agent. You need to click confirm within 48 hours.
