The patent examiner fee for Egypt has been paid

Starting from June 18th, there will be an upward adjustment

The Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority has issued Decree No. 26 of 2025, which was published in the Official Gazette No. 132 on June 17, 2025, making significant adjustments to the structure of patent examination fees and related payment deadlines in Egypt.

Starting from June 18, 2025, the official patent examination fee will double from EGP25000 to EGP50000 (approximately equivalent to $1060).

In addition to fee adjustments, the payment deadline for patent examination and expert fees has also been shortened.

According to the new provision in Article 3 of the law, applicants must pay the required fees within three months from the date of receipt of notification, replacing the previous six-month period calculated from the date of application.

The specific changes are as follows

According to Article (1): According to the current Intellectual Property Protection Law, the examination fee for patent applications is set at 50.000 Egyptian pounds.

According to Article (2): When the Patent Office designates experts to examine patent applications submitted under the Intellectual Property Protection Law, if expert consultation is required, the fee will be determined by the Director, and the minimum fee for each application is 1000 Egyptian pounds. Please note: This clause was previously free, but now requires an additional fee.

According to Article (3): All examination fees and expert fees must be paid within three months from the receipt of the examination notice. If the payment is not made on time, the application will be suspended until the required fees are fully paid, including fines according to relevant regulations.

According to Article (4): Examination fees and expert fees shall be deposited into the financial account of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Office.

According to Article (5): This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette of Egypt and shall take effect on the day following its publication. Any previous provisions that conflict with it shall be repealed.
