Overview of Spanish Patents
Spain is located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, at the border between Europe and Africa. The number of countries with Spanish as their official language ranks second in the world, second only to English.
Spain is China's sixth largest trading partner within the European Union, as well as the best European platform for trade with Latin America and a bridge connecting North African, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern countries. China is Spain's largest trading partner outside the European Union. As of the end of December 2019, the total bilateral trade volume between China and the West was 35.469 billion US dollars, of which Spain imported 8.6 billion US dollars worth of goods from China, including machinery and equipment, transportation equipment, plastics and their products, minerals, and pharmaceuticals.
Spain has joined most of the international treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Trade Organization, and is also a signatory to many EU conventions, including the European Patent Convention. As a member state of the European Union, Spain also applies all international conventions and intellectual property regulations of the EU that it has joined.
