Formal examination and substantive examination
The Patent Office reviews the application and publishes it after approval. If it is deemed to be non compliant, the applicant may be required to provide relevant necessary documents. After the examination is approved, the patent application will be published. Within 60 days after publication, any interested party may submit an objection to the committee under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. The committee will complete the review and make a decision within 30 days. If the examination fails, the patent application will be rejected and the applicant may apply for reconsideration to the committee. The decision of the committee must be approved by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, and once approved, it cannot be revoked.
Announcement and Authorization
The patent authorization announcement process in Qatar is carried out after obtaining authorization. After submitting the patent application, the applicant will receive an authorization notice, which includes all information related to the claims and the invention or utility model patent. After receiving the notification, the applicant shall submit a claim to the Qatar Intellectual Property Office. This file includes the designated theme and the content that requires protection. If there are any unclear or incomplete parts in the claims, the applicant shall submit the revised claims as soon as possible after receiving the notification. The Qatar Intellectual Property Office will conduct an examination based on the claims and materials provided by the applicant. If there are any issues, the application will be rejected.
The Qatar Intellectual Property Office will publish relevant information about invention patent applications in patent authorization announcements and require applicants to pay corresponding fees. If the patent is granted, the patent applicant shall pay the annual fee within 3 months. If the applicant fails to pay the annual fee or the payment time exceeds 3 months, the patent will be deemed automatically abandoned and terminated from the date of filing the application.

(1) Invention and utility model patents
1. Description, claims, accompanying drawings, abstract, and accompanying drawings;

If the applicant's application includes design images or photographs, a brief description of the images or photographs must be submitted. The image or photograph should include at least three exterior design products and clearly display the three-dimensional shape of any exterior design product.
If the design patent application includes a three-dimensional design, a three-dimensional design specification document must be submitted and submitted together with pictures or photographs.
