The examination procedure specifically includes formal examination, substantive examination, registration, public application, and granting of patent rights.
The Mongolian Patent Office shall conduct a formal examination of the patent within 20 days from the date of acceptance, and the examination period may be extended upon application. Those that pass the review will be made public.
Priority can be applied for within 2 months from the date of registration. Applicants for priority rights need to provide a written description, relevant application documents abroad, and an international search report or preliminary examination report. If no one raises a patent objection within 3 months from the date of patent publication, the patent right shall be granted and registered.
Mongolian invention patents can be converted into utility models or designs, and the application date before conversion is the application date of the converted patent.
1. Application documents: including specification, claims, accompanying drawings of specification, abstract, and accompanying drawings of abstract;
2. Application information: Chinese and English names/titles, addresses, and postal codes of the applicant and inventor, country of application, contact person, etc;
3. If priority is required, the acceptance notice of the prior application and the priority proof document of the prior application must also be provided (the priority proof document can be submitted at the same time as the application or within 12 months from the priority date);
4. Oath and power of attorney.

The competent authority shall conduct a formal examination of the patent or design within 20 days from the date of acceptance, and the examination period may be extended upon application. Those that pass the review will be made public. If no one raises a patent objection within 3 months from the date of patent publication, the patent right shall be granted and registered.
1. Application information: Chinese and English names/titles, addresses, and postal codes of the applicant and inventor, country of application, contact person, etc;
2. Appearance design pictures or photos: The applicant shall submit a three-dimensional view (unfolded view) and a six sided view (i.e. front view, rear view, left view, right view, top view, and bottom view), and the size ratio of the seven sided view must be consistent.
3. Brief description of appearance design;
4. If priority is required, the acceptance notice of the prior application and the proof of priority of the prior application must also be provided;
5. Oath and power of attorney.

The Patent Office shall conduct a formal examination of the utility model within one month from the date of acceptance. Those that pass the review will be made public. If no one raises a patent objection within 3 months from the date of patent publication, the patent right shall be granted. Issue a utility model patent certificate within one month from the date of patent grant.
