1. The Somali Trademark Law is the fifth ordinance promulgated on January 22, 1955, and was revised and implemented on January 18, 1975 until now.
2. The working language of the Somali Intellectual Property Office is English;
3. Since Somalia is not a member of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, it is impossible to claim priority
4. The Somali trademark adopts the principle of prior application and does not accept applications with multiple categories for one trademark.
5. The types of trademarks that can be registered in Somalia include commodity trademarks, service trademarks, and collective trademarks. According to local Islamic law, the product cannot involve alcohol or pork products;

Due to the lack of an independent trademark system in Somalia, it is not possible to apply for registration of trademarks one by one. If it is necessary to apply for registration of Somali trademarks, it can only be handled through the African Regional Industrial Property Organization, which Somalia has joined.

The validity period of a Somali trademark is 10 years from the date of registration. If it needs to be continued to be used after the expiration of the validity period, an application for renewal should be made within 12 months before the expiration, and each renewal is valid for 10 years.
